Share!Food! Book
The purpose of this project was to design a product that would be desired by students on the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee's campus and also serve a larger need in the campus community. This required research, design and production. I became an expert on the campus by using University resources, interviewing students, conducting surveys and also personal observations while on campus. I ended up teaming up with a campus organization called the Culture Cafe, who's goal is to bring cultural awareness to students through the sharing of food, Share!Food! The result of the partnership was this recipe book. For the design, I created a look that captured an earthy and humanistic quality, to reflect the bringing together of cultures. I hand drew and collaged the imagery in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The typesetting was handled in Adobe InDesign. For the production, I hand bound hard portfolio cases as a container for the recipe cards. Once the product was completed, several copies were made for sale on campus. My product sold out within an hour of going on sale, prompting me to take orders for an additional supply of the books!
